Anyone have any great ideas on how to clean cast iron?  I got them all cleaned up except for one griddle that got rusty during the winter.  The worst thing I hate about cleaning it is the black paws I get after cleaning.  You should see my hands yet this morning.  Told Smurf that we need to create some kind of acid dip to put them in that takes it all off.

Oh, by the way sir....still have that griddle you was offering?:   Wink

Oh you ain't kidding it smells.  Last night the house was a smoking after seasoning those pots and pans in the oven.  Smurf had his shirt held over his nose!  LOL

Good idea about the eggs but you think a couple of dozen would be enough to burn it off?   Wink  Ask granpaw what it looked like!

But on another good note....that pot that the beaver was cooked in is seasoned real fine!!

My sister buys and sells cast iron.  I have a big tea kettle that was rusted on the inside.  She told me to boil vinegar and let it simmer to remove the rust.

Yes I did the vinegar thing.  I boiled it for over an hour.  Pouring it out was like dirty motor oil.  My tea kettle was rusty enough I will have to do it again and need 2 gallons instead of one.
